This is so exciting! And I can imagine scary. One of the nice things about having a NICU baby is that you learn so much about the basics of parenting. You know how to change a diaper. Feel if the baby is cold or warm. Take their temp. Listen to how they should be breathing. Love them even when you're scared. Your baby is so tough. You cannot break him. So trust your instincts. Lean on the NiCU. And thankfully, you'll have a lot of appointments post discharge. You'll do great.
I'm so happy you're home!!! We had an appointment 2 days after discharge and then again at 1 week to check her weight. I think they saw her one more time before that. A home nurse comes to us through the healthy start program once every 2 weeks.
