We got home from seeing Santa last night and A had a 101.8 fever. Gave him tylenol and he slept great (me- not so much) and he seems just stuffy this morning. Not even the slightest temp. I feel terrible, but he really needs to go to daycare- H is out of PTO time and I have a couple of meetings I shouldn't miss. Obviously, I'll go get him if he is sick though. Teeth? Virus? Ugh.
DH is sick, ugh. He tossed and turned and was in and out of bed all night, which made Margs and me wake up like 15 times? I felt bad but told him tonight he stays on the couch. Need sleep and don't want to be sick. Another of Margs's molars broke through so just one left (any moment now) and hopefully we can go back to sleeping again. PLease please please. I am hoping for a Christmas miracle I think she also had a mini verbal explosion. We think she is trying to say Margaret, which is coming out as ag-eh. Too cute! Oh and big news, my MIL made some safe treats for Margs so she ate her first cookie yesterday
And I am quite pleased my Christmas shopping is all done! I have just a little bit of wrapping left and must mail some photo books to great grandparents today.
Hi friends! Such a busy week ahead. Work is crazy right now, and then tonight & tomorrow night after C's in bed I really need to focus on wrapping the remaining gifts & writing out my grocery shopping list for the holidays. On Thursday, we are getting carpet installed in our basement family room and the steps leading downstairs (goodbye hideous orange & brown linoleum and cold/hard tile!). They will move the furniture (phew!) but MH and I need to remove the gates from C's play area, and move things like his toys, the Christmas tree etc. out of the room. That will consume Weds night, and Thurs night will be putting the playroom together, gating off the doorway and fireplace, etc. I am so excited though - by the weekend, we should have a fully baby-proofed playroom for C!
13liza, I hope he feels better today & the fever stays away.
byjove, yay for cookies & new words! I am 99% sure that C learned the word "out" and is using it at night when I go to nurse him to sleep - MH is in the nursery with us for the bedtime routine and then turns off the light on his way out as I'm settling in to nurse - C has started looking at MH, pointing at the door and saying - I think - "out"! Too funny. FX she's done teething soon. C got two more in over the weekend finally, still no molars yet, I'm nervous. He does not teethe well. I am always shocked when people say their LO just woke up with new teeth - when C is getting one in, believe me, everybody knows about it. Lol poor guy.
blerg, SIL's christmas card came, what a hot mess(am I a bad person if I pitch it right in the trash?)! if I've not shared, she and her H are in the middle of a divorce (the details of which have been aired all over social media). they have 2 kids together and she has another one from a previous relationship (her oldest was born when she was 17). they've been spatting for about 6 months, their plans for divorce went public about 4 months ago (they're still married today), and her card is a photo collage of she and her new BF with her 3 kids and his 2 year old (he is also still married). I have no idea what I'll tell IZ when she starts asking questions about DH's two hot-mess sisters (the other is also a young divorcee with 2 toddlers).
I think I've finally turned a corner with this sickness. No more muscle weakness and feeling like I could fall asleep any minute. Good thing. I've got maybe half the wrapping done. Still need to finish up a craft and do my grocery list. Baking cookies tomorrow.
Currently having a Christmas dance party/mega blocks marathon with the littles. I have wiped disgusting noses 263748363) times today.

obscurereference that is adorable and glad you are feeling better! The girls had a class today and then we went to target. I will not be going there until after Christmas. I counted all the presents last night until I realized it won't matter this year since they won't be counting presents, however both girls are getting 5 presents. I'm proud I didn't go crazy. The girls have both sets of grandparents, both sets of great-grandparents on both sides and a great great grandma so they will be getting so much.

I have so many presents to wrap still. I need to wrap some after the kids go to bed but I don't want to!
I really wanted to sneak away and get my H a little something but it might not happen. We usually don't get each other anything, but I wanted to get him something small at least. I might try to fight the crowds with R tomorrow.
Well DH is more sick today. Day 4. He's like I'll go to the doctor tomorrow. Maybe I will pick up some nyquil so I can sleep better tomorrow. I was like HELL TO THE NO! You go see that doctor today and get nyquil for tonight! He hasn't been this sick in a long time, so I feel for him, but I am over it (as I am sure he is too). Clara was cough-puking up her morning snot today. Good gravy I could not stay home with the both of them. It was like surround sound coughing last night. I just wanted to run away. Clara snuggled with a plastic container in case her cough made her puke again I hate it! But she fights everything we do to help her. And she cries hysterically, and it makes her mucous worse. It is so frustrating.

byjove Ugh. Clara sounds exactly like my oldest. I had her in the bath last night at 10 pm after puking her snot into her hair. I think I've said "crying makes it worse" 2000 times. Hope your family is on the mend soon!
MIL keeps inviting additional people to our house for Christmas (the day after Christmas). It was just supposed to be MiL, FiL and his girlfriend. Then she invited six more family members (long story there but I'm mostly okay with that but we sort of got put on the spot and being asked to go from hosting 3 people to 9 isn't a small change) and now she said she's inviting her two friends. Like she sees nothing wrong with expecting us to make room for and provide food for extra people she decides to invite. This is not her house to invite people to! This is not her function! This was me and MH wanting to have dinner with his immediate family, a small casual thing. Why does she feel she can turn it into a social event for her friends at our house?!? Why would we want her friends at our family Christmas dinner?! It's not like it's Christmas Day and they have no plans & nowhere else to go. It's the day after, basically a random Monday, they happen to be free so she just wants to bring them along?? I told MH to shut it down. He was as pissed as me so he's handling it.

Hi all! I've been enjoying the week off with H & EG. So far we have picked up our new living room furniture, gotten the paperwork started for our addition/refi, and done a ton of cleaning. Productive, I'd say! Finishing cleaning today and then I plan on taking it easy until after Christmas. So ready for Sunday!

Had her 12 month check up today. She's finally on the chart for height but still off for weight. 29 pounds. This girl needs to start walking!! Got allll the shots plus a finger prick and a flouride treatment. She was not impressed. All of a sudden she's standing without support a lot. I feel like this is probably an indication that she will start walking soon. She also has finally started walking while holding our fingers. Yay!
I've got 99% of the wrapping done. Still need to add ribbon, though. Getting close to being done!

I finally have everything wrapped!!! I usually like wrapping stuff but it's been hard to be motivated when I have to hide it all away again when I get done. What a pain. We'll be at MIL's all day Saturday so I think we'll put stuff under the tree Saturday morning before we leave. Hopefully we can manage to keep them out of the presents for the few hours we'll be home while they're awake.
We're making cookies tomorrow! I'm excited to start this tradition.
yesterday was a total $#!& show, Iz is working on several molars an ran a low-grade fever and was generally cranky all day. we went out to the grocery store to get some last items for stockings and a few essentials, the bagger left my baking soda out, which I didn't realize until 10pm last night. Iz poped in the tub during her bath, so in addition to everything else I had to bleach all the bath toys, then she was up from 11:30-1am, again with a low grade fever. she was cranky this morning, I *think* her fever was gone, I left her as the babysitter was starting to get her down for a nap. the cats also found a mouse in the basement and brought it upstairs to play...they had not caught it when I left for work. so tired.
Well after some last minute drama, our new carpet is installed! It is perfect, so soft & cozy. MH is finishing gating off the fireplace this morning then working on sanding down some doors that no longer open over the carpet. Hopefully later today, C's new playroom is done!!
In between naps, C and I are gonna head out to get holiday groceries and pick up the Christmas cookie tray I ordered from a bakery (b/c lazy). Not looking forward to the crowds!
I posted this on FB but I'm feeling pretty bummed because I found out my best friend is pregnant from the holiday card/announcement we got in the mail yesterday. So at the same time as everyone else. Idk, I'm just surprised and hurt she didn't tell me sooner/separately. I'll call and congratulate her today, just wallowing in my feelings a bit first.
