My bean is going to be one in less than two weeks! She still will only eat purees and has a hard time with any type of chunks (lumpy mashed potatoes are okay, but the stage 3 mac and cheese caused her to cough a couple of weeks ago). Maybe I need to try more foods again, but I'm trying to figure out what might be a nice treat for her for her birthday. I'm thinking ice cream cake or even pudding in a cup with a candle stuck in it? Any suggestions from this group?
Happy almost birthday to your LO! I feel like you could still do a standard cake if you are going for the smash effect. She could just play with it and lick frosting and it could still be a fun picture. But if you want something she can eat, pudding would be good. I'd probably avoid ice cream because I know that would freak my LO out just because it's so cold!
Update: After trying stage 3 foods with little bits in them with DD again, she seemed to do fine. So standard cake it was! She mostly did smashing and smearing and only took a bite or two herself, relying on me to feed her any more that she wanted. Success!
